Appetizer and Main Course

One more quick hit for the night. Must talk about the little one - I talked earlier in the week about her binge and purge problem - so I've been trying to feed her in two courses - Appetizer and then after she's had a bit of time to digest - Main Course. It seems to be working! Why is it that our pets are probably the most spoiled members of our family?!

By Myself But Not Alone

So as many of you know - I went looking for some places for my mom to live today - was supposed to have some support - didn't get it - what a surprise! But I have to tell you - prayer works - I spent all last night and this morning praying about it and I went to look by myself - but I certainly wasn't alone - the Lord walked right in there with me. I did cancel one of the appointments when I was left on my own - mainly for funding reasons - found out Friday night that I won't be getting any financial help - yes, I am speaking a bit in code - but those of you who know me should know what I'm talking about (I'm trying to be nice in a blog that I post on the internet). Anyway... the first place was in Fountain Valley - it was a large facility - clean, spacious - lots of activities - the residents seemed happy and they were actually affordable - I was very pleasantly surprised - will do a bit more number crunching - talk to the administrator to see if they can cut us a deal and of course will pray some more on it. Will also take a buddy with me to check the place out again as an extra set of eyes since I'm so close to the situation. I also went to see a board and care in a residential home in Orange - it was nice also - little more expensive - but don't think there is enough activity going on there for my mom. So after my two appointments - decided to treat myself to Chick-Fil-A and who do I see pull up at the same time for lunch - my buddy, Kris! So we had a wonderful lunch together - it was definitely a God thing! So please continue the prayers for my moms housing situation and if this is the right place for her - now I need to get her to buy into moving and sharing a bedroom. God Bless Her!

You Will Get Wet

Since I didn't post yesterday - I'll try to make up for that tonight. So I ended up at Sea World yesterday with the Boys (yes, it was my second time in a week - we got free tickets at work). And it was fun - wasn't as crowded as Saturday so we got to see all of the shows - and they were just better. Wow - the cat is just fascinated by the letters being typed on the screen right now - her new favorite spot is to stand in front of the computer monitor - yeah, I know that was random (beavers and ducks) - but that's the way my mind works. Back to our regularly scheduled (that's pronounceds SHed-yooled) blog... Sea World, that's it... So we had a good time - got to see a friend that is in the Cirque de la Mer show - very cool - and got my picture taken with her in costume after the show - if I ever download the pics off my camera - maybe I'll start posting some of them as well. We went on the Atlantis roller coaster - it was ok - but a warning - as it says in the disclaimer announcement - You will get wet - drenched is more like it - down to the panties! They also announce in the disclaimer that if you have any prosthetic devices - they need to be securley attached - have never heard that one before! I have to admit, after hearing the disclaimer, I wasn't sure I even wanted to go on the ride - but other than getting soaked - it really wasn't all that bad. We stayed for even the nighttime shows and fireworks - so I didn't get home until about midnight. That and I was a bit distressed about today - will talk more about that in a moment - are the reasons I didn't post yesterday. Enough about Friday.

Native Californians

Not much going on today - had a good day - probably because I started with my newest vice - Starbucks hot chocolate. Had a good day at work - was able to finish a project a day early that I thought would take all week - so I'm taking tomorrow off - yippeee! Had a fun, relaxing time at praise band practice - which was nice, since it was our last one - had a nice dinner with friends and fed the cat in stages - so no problems with her this evening. So about the title - saw a cute license plate frame on my way to work this morning - it said "The Few, The Proud, The Native Californians" - yeah for those of us born in the great state of California - and for all of you who weren't. God bless us, everyone!

Bulimic Cat

This blog thing can be addicting (maybe this will be classified as an addiction just like video games)! Much easier to type everything than write in the old fashioned journal I've been keeping for years - but some things are just meant to be kept secret in a friendly hand written journal... Anyway - wanted to tell one more story for the evening - this one about the cat. So the last time we were at the vet, he told me that Sadie needed to lose some weight - at least he didn't tell me what the last vet did - that when a pet is overweight - it isn't the pets fault - nothing like feeling like a bad cat mommy. So I've been reducing the amount of food I give Sadie - so by the time meal time rolls around she is pretty hungry and some days she just inhales her food - well this evening was one of those times and right after she finished binging- she came over to me on the couch and purged right in front of it (I guess it could have been worse - she could have been ON the couch) - great a mom with dementia and a cat with bulimia! God bless them both!

Flushed Down the Toilet

Another story from earlier in the week... so I had to take my mom to the doctor on Monday and when we get there the nurse asks how she is doing and my mom said just terrible - of course the nurse takes a look at me and I have no idea what she is talking about - nice. So when the doctor comes in and my mom says the same thing - again the doctor looks at me and I just shrug. Then we get to hear about the muscle damage - because her doctor in Alhambra said that the cholesterol medication she was on causes muscle damage and that's what she is experiencing (never mind the fact that every doctor she has seen says that isn't the case and they've even run tests to prove it) - the muscle damage is one of my favorites - amazing to me what she fixates on - truly makes me wonder what is going on in her mind - don't want to dwell too much - but I have been hearing about this muscle damage several times a week for years. Anyway... she continues to tell the doctor that she has talked to one of her neighbors and her neighbor has the same problem (great - now all she needs to do is start checking WebMD for symptoms she might have)! So the doctor tells her to stop taking the medication - we'll give it a couple of months and make sure she is feeling better and reevaluate at that time. My mom then says she stopped taking the medication a couple of days ago - I knew something was off with her medication since I had checked the pill boxes before we went to the doctor, but I just figured maybe I had made a mistake. I hadn't seen any medication lying around the house - so I asked her what she had done with the pills and she said - very proudly - that she had flushed them down the toilet! At which point her doctor commended her because "that's how you are suppposed to dispose of medication"! And I'm just sitting there thinking - don't encourage her - pretty soon she won't be taking any of her medication! God bless her!

Sneaking In

So I figure I'll catch up on a couple of recent stories that just make me laugh! So my mom calls about a week ago - I'm home but let the machine pick up - yes, I screen my calls - but always pick up if it is important - usually the calls are about her tooth or muscle damage! Anyway... she starts leaving this rambling message about her eye glasses and how they aren't working and what did I do to them - did I sneak in while she was downstairs - but she's having a hard time articulating exactly what the problem is - so, like the good egg that I am :) I pick up the phone and start to talk to her. After several minutes I finally figure out that her glasses worked fine in the morning - she went down to talk to the ladies in the building during the day and when she returned - the glasses no longer work. And now she wants to know if I stopped by and did something to her glasses - yes - I'm secretly trying to sabatoge her glasses so she can't see anymore. Of course I tell her - no - haven't been by her place today - so then she wonders if John might have come by - yeah - he's going to wander over just to mess with her glasses! God bless her! It still makes me laugh - I haven't had the guts to ask her if they are any better - don't need one more thing for her to fixate on and make me crazy! Have already heard about her muscle damage and oozing tooth this week.

This Should Be Fun

Yeah - not exactly sure what I'm doing - but thought it would be fun to create my own blog - maybe a bit theraputic. Share mom stories - Sadie stories and just other general stuff. Will keep this one short today - it's late and I must go to bed - but wanted to try it all out... stay tuned for more fun stuff!

Hey I'm back - have been clicking around a bit - we'll see if I actually get this posted. :)
