It Was Like Disneyland On The Freeway
So I was right! My arms are just screaming today – although my abs are doing ok – next week should be fun too – I’m going to get my roller skates out and participate in a friend’s neighborhood 4th of July parade – so next week it will be my legs screaming!
So the other day I was driving to work and along an overpass – there were three kids smiling and just waving to traffic as it went by – I thought it was kinda’ cool – it was like Disneyland on the freeway – I, of course, waved back. It really just made my day.

The Dentist Has A Drill In Your Mouth
So I took Miss Sadie to the vet the other day for her annual check up – and last year the vet talked about how she could stand to lose a bit of weight. So we adjusted how much food to give her – and I was very militant about her food. So (I use that word a lot) when she gets weighed at the vet – she has lost 2 pounds – and of course the vet doesn’t seem happy – I just can’t win – first she is too fat – now, apparently, I’ve starved her too much! So I ask him – does she weigh too little – and he says that she is actually her ideal body weight. So now I’m thinking – what’s the problem?! He is concerned because she has lost 20% of her body weight – and I think – I lost 20% of my body weight and I’m doing ok. He was just concerned that there might be something wrong with her – great – now I’m a bad cat mommy because my cat lost too much weight! I just can’t win. So I’ve increased her food amount in an effort to keep her at the current weight – we’ll see what happens in the next year!
Speaking of check ups – the last time I went to get my teeth cleaned the dentist told me that I needed to have some fillings replaced – of course it took me three months to finally make the appointment! So yesterday was the day – nothing like spending 2 hours in the dentist’s chair – and Lynne – thanks for the IPOD idea – it was a life saver! And I really like my dentist – he is very nice – has a very gentle spirit – always checking up with me to make sure that everything is ok – but having work done in my mouth is just miserable! I had an upper and a lower back molar that needed to be done – and of course for hours after that your face is just numb – and my poor tongue took a beating. When he had me bite down to check the alignment – I thought it felt weird – yeah – that was my tongue I was biting on – but of course couldn’t feel it – boy do I feel it today! My favorite part though was after it was all done – he thanked me for sitting so still – and all I could think was – are there really people that move around during dental work – the dentist has a DRILL in your mouth – are you crazy?!
Went to workout after Bible Study tonight and it just kicked my butt! Actually it is my arms and abs that will be crying out in pain over the next couple of days. It was a tough workout – but I always feel better after I’ve been to the gym – now I just need to keep up on doing weights while Craig is on vacation. B – I might need to start dragging you with me.

Hot Guy And Disneyland Point
I am a bit distressed - I’ve just finished Season One of the Tudor’s - and I can’t get Seasons Two and Three on Netflix yet. After returning from England - I started watching the Showtime series ‘The Tudors’. Of course, I realize that it is very loosely based on history - but the guys in it are HOT! And I was just tickled the other day when the king was sitting on his throne and pointing to the door and he used the two finger Disneyland point! Mmmmm... Hot guy and Disneyland point! In another episode the king is caressing Anne Boleyn’s neck - and he says ‘Your neck - I love your neck’ and all I could think was - yeah - all the better to chop off! Back to being loosely based on history - unfortunately, sometimes it’s so loosely based that it is hard to watch - I was watching an episode recently and thought - but that didn’t happen during Henry the VIII’s time! I guess that’s what makes it good television - embellishment!
They have also used two of my favorite phrases... anyone that has read this blog regularly, knows that this is MY phrase - but I heard this recently on an episode... ‘God Bless Her.’ Another favorite phrase came about when Henry VIII was frustrated with Cardinal Wolsey and said ‘Damn Wolsey - damn him to hell.’
So, again, I know the show is loosely based on history - but the show does have all the main characters - so I keep my History of Britain book close so I can look up who some of the players are from time to time. Well, when I was watching the season finale, I noticed that Henry VIII was calling everyone Thomas - so I looked them up in the book and apparently they were all named Thomas... Cardinal Thomas Wolsey... Thomas Cromwell - the king’s right hand man... Sir Thomas More - made Lord Chancellor on Wolsey’s fall and although I don’t remember seeing him in the show... Thomas Cranmer - Archbishop of Canterbury. Go figure - who knew the name was so popular!
The Carnival Man
So even as hot as it was on Saturday - I ended up going to the gym - I figured at the very least, it would be air conditioned! So I’m on the elliptical and on the TV is coverage of Tim Russert’s funeral. And it was very touching at one point they showed his son giving the eulogy - so of course, since I’m a girl, I start to tear up a bit and just when I start thinking - great - can I explain this away as sweat coming out of my tear ducts - I see him... and all of a sudden I have to stifle a laugh - there he is - in living color - actually more black and white - it’s Carnival Man! I think I may have written about him before - but this is a guy who wears a tight little black tank top - with his black tights and black socks with black shoes - and he has to be wearing this awful blond wig - and just looks like that carnival guy who is big on the top with small legs! Hilarious!
And since it’s been a while since I’ve blogged - enjoy the other entry today about the Tudor’s and look for another England post this week.

They Can't Play With The Target Carts
This weekend I was in Borders (Kris and Lynne - I have the newest Kingsbury Baxter Family book - Someday - I’ll pass it on when I’m done) and there was this cute little girl that was telling her dad about the peacock on this book that she found. I was walking out of the store behind the family and another little girl was holding the door open - so the peacock girl after she walked out kept saying ‘Goodbye, girl’ to the one that was holding the door! She wouldn’t stop saying goodbye until the other girl finally acknowledged her.
The other evening I had to go to Target and Stater Bros - good thing they are both in the same parking lot! When I have to visit both - I usually park closer to Stater Bros since it is impossible to park near Target. Well, I had to use a Target cart for the visit since I was getting kitty litter (I know, TMI!) - and when I got to my car after the visit - I went over and put the cart in the cart collection area. As I was walking up to it - there was a Stater Bros kid collecting carts and he had this odd look on his face when I put the Target cart there - apparently the collection area was only for Stater Bros carts and they can’t play with the Target carts - because the kid took the Target cart out of the area and moved it to the side! And here I thought I was doing a good thing by not leaving the cart in the middle of the parking lot! I'll know better next time. No fraternizing between the carts!

Evil Orange Golf Balls
So I went to the Dollar Tree at lunch yesterday and for just a dollar, I bought a package of one of Sadie’s favorite toys - 12 plastic wiffle golf balls in orange to make them easy to find in the house. So when I got home, the cat was laying on top of her cat tree - so I started underhanding the golf balls to her. Some of them would bounce off the tree - some of them she would swat back at me and a couple of them landed next to her so she could play with them until she knocked them off the tree. So the last ball that I threw to her hit her smack in the middle of the face - thus ending that game! Oops - play time was over - she wanted nothing more to do with those evil orange golf balls!
Luckily she has a short memory (just like her grandmother) - she started playing with them later in the evening. And then this morning - I was able to snap this picture - looks like she has made peace with the evil orange golf balls! God Bless Her!
